01Where does this data come from?
The citywide figures and the address search come from NYC Open Data's 311 Service Requests dataset, the city's record from 2020 on. The city refreshes it daily, and searches read it live. The yearly trend chart takes its 2014-2019 counts from the city's archived 2010-2019 dataset. Each year covers the same closed window, so those figures hold still.
02Do complaints show who filed them?
No. The public dataset carries no names or contact details. A report shows the complaints at an address and nothing about the people who filed them.
03Why does my address return nothing?
The dataset stores street addresses without apartment numbers, so search for the building alone, like 128 Mott Street. If nothing comes back, the city logged no complaint there in the last 12 months.
